The Importance of Solar Inverter in Solar Energy System
As a conversion device for solar power generation, the function of solar inverter plays a key role in the entire power station. The solar inverter converts the direct current generated by the solar modules into a sinusoidal waveform current, which is connected to the load or integrated into the grid. It is the core component of the solar power generation system.
However, the solar inverter not only has DC-AC conversion function, but also has active operation and deactivation function, maximum power tracking MPPT function, islanding detection and control function.
Active Operation And Deactivation Function
After the sun rises in the early morning, the amount of solar radiation gradually increases, and the output of the solar panel also increases. When the power required by the inverter is reached, the inverter will actively run. The inverter will always monitor the output power of the solar panel assembly. As long as the power of the solar panel assembly is greater than the power required by the inverter's target, the inverter will continue to run until sunset. When the output of the solar panel assembly becomes smaller and the output of the inverter is close to zero, the inverter will automatically enter the standby state.
Input Power Of The Solar Module Changes Linearly
Maximum power tracking MPPT function when the light intensity and temperature changes, the input power of the solar module changes linearly. The solar module is not a constant voltage source or a constant current source, and its power will change with the change of the output voltage, which is not directly related to the load. Its output current is initially a horizontal line as the voltage rises, when a certain power is reached, it decreases as the voltage rises, and when the module open circuit voltage is reached, the current decreases to zero.
The islanding effect detection and control function under normal power generation, the photovoltaic grid-connected power system is connected to the grid and delivers effective power to the grid, but when the grid loses power, the photovoltaic grid-connected power system may still be running independently from the local load. In this case called the island effect. When the inverter islanding effect occurs, it will cause great harm to life safety, grid operation and the inverter itself. Therefore, the standard specification of inverter into the grid, PV grid-connected inverter must have the inspection and control function of islanding effect.
